Skully Necklace - Light Green Montana Sapphires

One of a kind, hand-fabricated and hand-engraved skull necklace made using reclaimed sterling silver, with a pair of light green, star set Montana sapphires for the eyes. The sapphires measure approx. 1.5mm in diameter. Can be worn at 18 or 20 inches. On 1.5mm sterling silver oval rolo chain and finished with a hand-forged hook clasp.

My take on the time tested Memento Mori theme, popular during the Victorian era. Memento mori, memento vivere is Latin, and translates to "remember you will die, remember to live" -  a reminder that time is precious and fleeting, but also that painful endings are inevitably followed by new beginnings - the perennial nature of the cycles of life, death, and rebirth.

All my work is handmade using traditional goldsmithing,
